Epilogue: Jack's Bet With Sue

Jack: Wanna make a wager? If I win I get something that I want, and if you win, you get something you want.

Sue: Hmmm…What kind of bet are you talking about now?

Jack: If I win, you go to Wisconsin with me for Christmas break. If you win, I’ll make breakfast for you. Sound fair?

Sue: And bathe Levi for a week. It’s a deal. You know he likes you more than me sometimes. Besides, I don’t trust you in the kitchen. Too many things could go wrong. (laughs)

Jack: Hey, look who’s talking? As I recall, you and Amanda were in my kitchen brownie incident. (laughs) I’ll have you know, I make a mouth-watering Belgium waffle. If there’s one thing I know, it’s how to cook breakfast. (smiles)

Sue: So if there’s even the slightest chance of the house burning down, and sparks flying everywhere, will you save me sweetie?

Jack: Of course, I would. You ought to know the only sparks flying around here will come from me. (signature wink) Stop stalling and let’s play poker, Mrs. Thomas.

Sue: Bring it on, Mr. Hudson.

Jack: Just remember there are no wild cards in draw poker and all suits are ranked equally.

Sue: Thanks for the tip.  Do you want to seal this deal with a kiss, honey? (smiles)

Jack: Now, why didn’t I think of that? But first, play poker, romance later. I promise you won’t be sorry, sweetheart. (smiles, signature wink)

They play draw poker best of five cards for an hour. Sue tries to trick Jack into letting her win. But this time, Jack is onto her plan. 1st draw-Jack wins with a straight flush beating two pairs. 2nd draw-Jack wins with a four of a kind beating out a flush.  3rd draw- Sue beats Jack with a three of a kind over two pairs. 4th draw-Sue wins again, beating Jack with a full house over one pair. Since the game is tied, whoever wins the last draw poker in the final round wins the wager.  5th draw-Jack has a royal flush beating out Sue’s straight flush.

Looks like Jack and Sue will be spending part of the Christmas holidays together in his hometown. But Sue is secretly glad that Jack won the game. It is fitting because Jack has already won Sue’s heart! To sum up this poker game, Jack said it best. “I think we both come out winners, honey!”

Sue: You said exactly what I was thinking. Somehow you must have read my mind.

Jack: Actually the opposite. I read your lips, my darling. (signature wink)

Sue: You clever, crafty, and charming Agent Hudson. (laughs) What am I going to do with you?

Jack: The better question is; what am I going to do with you sweetie? (laughs)

Sue: What is that supposed to mean? (laughs)

Jack: I don’t know. But I am looking forward to spending more quality time with you to find out. (smiles)

Then she playfully pokes Jack in the ribs. He says, Ouch. You hurt me. And he has a cute puppy dog face, so how can Sue resist him? The answer is there is no way she can resist, the one and only Agent Hudson! After all, Jack stole her heart from the first moment they met at his desk.

Jack: Have I told you lately, how my life couldn’t be any better than this. (smiles and pauses for a minute) Jack: Signing & Speaking- Sue, may I have this dance?

Sue: I would love to, Sparky. I think that’s a perfect nickname for you.

Jack: Oh okay. But don’t call me Sparky all the time. (Laughs)

Sue: But I like that name honey. How else am I supposed to keep you in line? (laughs)

Jack: I can think of other ways for you to keep me on my toes. (laughs)

Sue: Like what? Inquiring minds what to know? (gives Jack the look)

Jack: Wait and see, darling. I’ll tell you about it later. I will say this; the best is yet to come. (smiles)

And they dance to “When You Say Nothing At All”.  It’s their special song.

It's amazing how you can speak right to my heart/ Without saying a word, you can light up the dark/ Try as I may I could never explain/What I hear when you don't say a thing/The smile on your face lets me know that you need me/There's a truth in your eyes saying you'll never leave me/The touch of your hand says you'll catch me whenever I fall/You say it best... when you say nothing at all/All day long I can hear people talking out loud/But when you hold me near, you drown out the crowd (the crowd)/Oh Mr. Webster could never define/What's being said between your heart and mine.

CHORUS Twice: You say it best when you say nothing at all/You say it best when you say nothing at all /Oh...The smile on your face/The truth in your eyes/The touch of your hand/Let's me know that you need me...

CHORUS: You say it best when you say nothing at all/You say it best when you say nothing at all /The smile on your face/The truth in your eyes/The touch of your hand/Let's me know that you need me /You say it best when you say nothing at all…/

You say it best when you say nothing at all...

Someday in the future Jack knows he would treasure the moment he asks Sue for her hand in marriage. Maybe even take Sue back to Paris and propose on bended knee at Jardin de Luxembourg. Who knows one way or another it will happen within the next 10 years. Jack thinking: I will spend the rest of my life with Sue and make all her dreams come true.  Growing old with Sue will be my pot of gold. Timing is everything.

Yet at this very moment, Jack has never been more contented in his life. He is falling madly in love with Sue day after day. Without a doubt, they are meant to be together! Tonight, Jack and Sue let their hearts do all the talking for them. Later on, Jack whispers words of love in French to Sue. Je veux passer la reste de ma vie avec vous. Vous etes mon soulmate.  Mon amour.

THE END!
