Part 4: Jack's Game Room
Sunday afternoon Jack’s place
Sue: Hi Jack. I brought Domino’s pizza for you.
Jack: Hi Sue. That was nice of you. But I already ate lunch. We can save the pizza for dinner.
Sue: Sure. So what do you want to do this afternoon?
Jack: Come here first. You smell good.
Sue: You need something from me?
Jack: Yes. I just realize I didn’t kiss you yet. So I’m making up for it now.
Sue is wearing her favorite blue jeans and a red sleeveless blouse. Jack is wearing a white v-neck polo and denim blue jeans. They both laugh as Jack drops a light kiss against her lips. Instinctively he tilted her head slightly so he can give her a drawn out kiss. Then Jack shows Sue his game room. This is where I come to relax.
Sue: Nice. No wonder Bobby likes to come over here and hang out with you.
Jack: Yeah. It’s a cool place. This is the only room that Meg couldn’t touch. I wanted a place for myself to just unwind and not worry about anything troubling me at work. It’s the perfect room for me. I have a small wet bar with bar stools; that I hardly use, except when Bobby is here. Do you want something to drink?
Sue: No thanks. I’m good. I can see you and Bobby hanging out here talking about women and just being silly.
Jack: Hey, I’m not silly. You take that back.
Sue: Oh no. Not again. The last time you said that, Amanda broke your vase.
Jack: Yeah. But Amanda isn’t here today. So you can’t run away from me. (wink)
Sue: Who said anything about running away? I just want you to know what you are up against. (smiles)
Jack is holding his hands up in mock surrender.
Jack: I love sitting in my black leather recliner and putting my feet up. Do you want to play Air Hockey, Pinball or Pac man or dartboard game?
Sue: Need I remind you that I beat you at shooting pool. Now if you want me to beat you at air hockey. I can do that too.
Jack: The only reason you beat me at shooting pool is because I let you win. Let’s play Air Hockey and you can show me how good you think you are. (Lifts his eyebrows and smiles)
Sue: Fine. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.
Jack: No problem. Bring it on, Thomas.
They play air hockey for an hour. This time Sue keeps on losing to Jack. But she is having too much fun so she doesn’t care that Jack wins every game. Next they try to beat each other at pinball and pacman. Sue is not so good with the arcade machines either. Jack has been playing pinball and pacman forever. Later, Jack and Sue try to outdo each other playing dartboard. He wins every game and Sue notices that it is almost dinner time. She goes and heats up the pizza she brought over. They eat pizza and watch Intolerable Cruelty again. This time they make it through the movie, laughing and eating popcorn. Sue does not fall asleep on the couch and Jack has his arms wrapped around her. They stay that way for a long time. They watch S.W.A.T and when the movie is done, Sue gets up to leave.
Jack: I had a wonderful time with you tonight.
Sue: Me too. Just so you know; I’m not going to play air hockey with you again.
Jack: You are just a tad mad at me that I won every game, that’s all.
Sue: Yeah. Okay. You don’t have to rub it in my face. Thanks for the great weekend.
Jack: Anytime. Did I ever tell you that I’m glad you are working with me?
Sue: I’m not sure. Did you?
Jack: I’m not sure either. Maybe I’ll get around to it one of these days. (smiling and gives Sue the look)
Sue: Well, it’s getting late. I should go home.
Jack: Yeah. It’s getting late. I better let you go. I’ll walk you out to your car.
Sue: Okay. Thanks again. Come on, Levi time to go home.
Jack: I don’t think he wants to leave yet. (Laughs) Looking at Levi, he is comfortable lying on the rug near the couch like he was last night.
Sue: Jack, you know that Levi and I have to go. I can’t spend another night here with you at your place.
Jack: Why not? I mean, nothing happened last night except that you fell asleep on my loveseat. I swear nothing happened. I mean I would never hurt you or take advantage of you. Ever!
Sue: I know that. I trust you completely, Jack. But it wouldn’t be right for me to spend the night here. I like what’s happening between us. At the same time, I’m scared that things might not work out for us. And I don’t want to lose you as a friend. Ever!
Jack: I understand. You never have to worry about that. I promise you. You and I will always be the best of friends. Forever! Just so you know; I’m not going anywhere. Ever!
Jack takes both of her hands and kisses both palms. Then Jack gives Sue a lingering goodnight kiss. It took some effort for him to pull back from their embrace. Jack walks Sue and Levi to her car; opens the driver’s door for her. He watches as Sue gets in and leans in to talk to Levi; you take care of Sue for me. And I will see you both tomorrow at the bullpen. Sweet dreams, Sue. Goodnight. Yeah. Goodnight, Jack. See you tomorrow. Jack waits until Sue and Levi drive off before he goes back inside and head straight to bed dreaming of Sue.
