Chapter 2: Houdini's Back In Town

Airplane ride from L.A. to D.C.

 "Ghost" has been in deep cover for the past 10 months working with Patrick O’Reilly on a top covert highly classified operation. They have been trying to infiltrate Brothers of Shadows and to catch the leader of the group without luck so far.  “Ghost” told O’Reilly “my old teammates might be the ace we need to get the mission done”. That guy Patrick O’Reilly is tough and mean. Glad he's working for U.S. We need more men like him. "Ghost" thinks about how his friends from the bureau will react to seeing him again. He remembers fondly his two protégés in waiting: Jack Hudson and Bobby Manning or like he calls them “Ben and Jerry”. The airplane is about to descend into Washington Reagan National Airport. He gets out, picks up his baggage, and heads for his hotel. The next day he drops in to see some old friends.

At the bullpen Wednesday morning

Wes shouts a greeting to everyone and Jack sees him first and comes over to hug him. Jack is wearing a blue suit with white shirt and red tie.

Jack: It’s been too long. Good to see you, Wes. By the way what are you doing here?

Wes: I got a proposition for you guys. But first, I need to talk to Garrett.

Bobby: Sounds intriguing. Garrett is in his office.

Wes: You two want to come along while I talk to Garrett, I've got a story that you can tell your grandkids about one day.

Garrett: Wes, good to see you again.

Wes: Great to see you, I got a proposition for your team.

Wes tells Garrett, Jack, and Bobby about what he knows so far of Sean Balitran and Brothers of Shadows, including Eduardo Sanchez. Patrick O’Reilly asked me to pick the best agents around to go undercover and help stop “Unstoppable” and his merry men from making good on their threat to release the Souza virus. I thought of you guys first. And I wouldn't ask if it wasn't urgent life or death matter. This comes straight from the President himself.

Garrett: This morning, I received a memo from the President of the United States stating that we need to pull our resources together and help CTA in whatever capacity they need us for to catch this Sean Balitran and do it quickly. The Souza virus is extremely lethal and will kill millions of innocent U.S. people. NIS says once a person has been infected with the virus, within a 4 hour incubation period, the outbreak will start chaos. Jack and Bobby bring your team up to speed. We need to get as much information about Sean Balitran and Eduardo Sanchez ASAP.  As of right now, this is our #1 priority. Nobody leaves until this situation is resolved. Anyone who needs a catnap can use the cot room.

Back at the bullpen

Jack: We're on it.  Listen up, everyone. We have an urgent case we need to follow the breadcrumbs before it gets cold. Tara, I want you to get me everything you can on Sean Balitran. Check out alias, bank records, cell phone records, credit cards, property he owns, anything you can get your hands on right now.  Bobby, check out Eduardo Sanchez, found out what his connection to Sean Balitran is.  Dimitrius and Myles, you two dig deeper into Sanchez and Balitran personal life. Somebody out there has got to know something about these guys. We just need to find that person. I don't even want to think about the consequences if we don't. Lucy, call NSA and ask them to send Stanley Abbott over. We are going to need his assistance. There may be code-breaking involved.

Jack:  If you have been saving a warrant in your pocket for a raining day, now is the time to use it.  Sue, I want you to meet, Wes Kenner. He taught me and Bobby everything we know. And once we get some surveillance shots of these men, I want you to take a look at it and give whatever you got to Tara and Stanley to decode.

Sue: Nice to meet you, Wes. Maybe you can tell me stories about Jack and Bobby a little later. Come on, Levi. Back to work, boy.
