Chapter 17: After The Kiss
Jack: Signing-Wow! Speaking- I’ve wanted to kiss you for a long time now.
Sue: Signing-Wow! Speaking- May I ask how long have you wanted to kiss me?
Jack: Ah well. I was going to kiss you at Jardin de Luxembourg this afternoon but you know who interrupted us. (smiles)
Sue: Bobby and Lucy, those two have lousy timing. (Smiles at Jack and they laugh)
Jack: Yeah. But I think you’ll agree it was well worth the wait. This is the perfect ending to a fantastic day with you.
Sue: You’re right. I couldn’t agree more. By the way, you are a really good kisser.
Jack: You think I’m a good kisser? (smiles) What if I ask you to rate my kissing finesse on a scale from 1 to 10? What would you say?
Sue: I just told you that you are a good kisser. As for rating your aptitude in kissing let me see, I give you 8.5. (smile)
Jack: What? 8.5? You need another demonstration, Sue. (signature wink and lifts his brows)
Sue: Oh, really? I thought giving 8.5 is generous. It’s a very good score.
Jack: Well then. I suppose sacrificing my lips to prove you wrong again would be worth it. (laughing)
Jack sweeps Sue into his arms, he frames her face in his hands and kisses her with fervor. His arms are wrapped tightly around her. Then he breaks their kiss and looks into her eyes. They step away from each other to give them both some breathing room. After a few minutes, Jack and Sue talk about what is happening between the two of them.
Sue: You win. If you must know, I would give you a score of 11 hands down. (laughs)
Jack: Hmmm…11. That’s better than 10, off the charts I would say. (smiles and his signature wink)
Sue: So, I’m off the hook now? (smiles)
Jack: Not exactly. I think it’s only fair to tell you. From now on, I’m keeping my eye on you. I’ll be watching you like a hawk. (smiles and signature wink) And Sue, can you do me a little favor?
Sue: If you must. What favor are you talking about?
Jack: Let’s not tell the team about tonight. I wouldn’t want to sully my reputation as a tough FBI agent. (laughs) The guys will never let me live this down if they find out.
Sue: So true. And there is the FBI no dating within the same unit policy that we have to adhere to also.
Jack: Yeah. But that doesn’t mean we can’t spend time alone just the two of us away from the bureau. Am I right?
Sue: Yeah. You’re right. Lucy is going to take one look at me and know that you kissed me tonight.
Jack: I was afraid that. Bobby is not going to rest until he knows that I kissed you tonight.
Sue: So what do we do so they don’t find out?
Jack: I’m not sure yet. Let’s just play it by ear.
Sue: I can’t hear remember. (They both laugh)
Jack: Let’s just see what happens. We don’t have to rush anything between us. We should take it slow. Enjoy getting to know each other better and see how it goes.
Sue: I completely agree with you. Taking it slow is a great idea. I’m having a wonderful time with you tonight.
Jack: That makes two of us. Alright then. We should head back to the hotel before Bobby and Lucy send out a search party for us. (Laughing)
Sue: Yes. But first I want another dance with you under the moonlit night. After all, it is going to be our last dance in Paris.
Jack: It will be my pleasure to dance with you. And remember, we’ll always have Paris and this special night in our hearts. (Gives Sue the look)
Jack pulls Sue into his arms and she rests her head against his shoulder. As they dance; Jack lifts her up and twirls her around, dips her once, then again. It seemed like time is standing still for them at least for a few hours tonight. When he’s holding Sue in his arms, it feels so good, so right. Before midnight, they walk back to the hotel hand-in-hand like two teenagers in love. And right before they go up to suite 1036; Jack pulls Sue close to him to kiss her one more time just to say goodnight. She returns his kiss and tells him goodnight as well. As they enter the suite, except for Danny, everyone else is still waiting up for them.
Bobby: Hey, you two finally find your way back? We thought you might have gotten lost somewhere?
Jack: Yes. We’re back. We had a grand time tonight. How was the theatre?
Lucy: We got to see Moulin Rouge! It was great. But I’m betting not as great as your night out with Sue.
Sue: We had a grand time tonight. Dinner and walking around Paris at night was exciting.
Lucy: Tell us more. Where did you go? What did you do? I want all the details.
Sue: Sorry, mom (laughs at Lucy) but I’m tired and we have a plane to catch in the morning. So I’ll say goodnight now, I’m off to bed.
Jack: Sue’s right. I’m tired too, got to catch a few winks before we leave tomorrow. Goodnight all.
Myles: Wait a minute, who bought the bouquet of roses?
Lucy: Myles, sometimes you can be so dense. Who do you think? Jack bought the roses for Sue. Two dozen of them, I might add. Now, that’s what I call romance.
Myles: Really? I didn’t know Jack was the romantic type.
Lucy: Word of advice, women like men who are capable of showing their romantic side not just their macho FBI side.
D: Don’t tell me, I’m happily married. Come on, let’s get some sleep and be ready to go in the morning.
Tara: Did I miss something here? What’s going on with Jack and Sue?
Bobby: Don’t worry, mates. Lucy and I will interrogate Sue and Jack on the plane. They won’t be able to dismiss us so easily.
Myles: Good luck to you both. Goodnight.
Oh la la la! Jack is in bed thinking about dancing with Sue and kissing her just a few hours ago. It was-in a word- incredible. He never felt this way about anyone before. Well, Ally was his first girlfriend back in high school, but he never had such intense feelings for her, not like he does for Sue right now. He can’t stop thinking about Sue! What a night to remember!
In the next room, Sue is in bed thinking about Jack, the whole day and dancing with him. She can’t stop smiling and has already committed to memory their first kiss tonight. Sue whispers, this is the best night of my life. I am always going to remember Paris.
