Chapter 13: Love Is In The Air
Jack is wearing Armani gray suit with blue shirt and gold tie. Hannah is treating the team to a fancy late dinner at Gerard Besson Restaurant. Danny is seated next to Hannah. Levi, Jack and Sue are seated next to each other. Lucy and Tara and Stanley are on the other side of Hannah. Bobby sits on the other side of Jack. Wes sits next to Bobby. D. and Myles sit next to each other. And Patrick O’Reilly sits at the head of the round table.
Sue: This is a beautiful restaurant.
Jack: And the view of the
Bobby: Yes, it is. I only wish my sheila Darcy was here to enjoy it with me.
D: I know what you mean. I wish Donna was here too. She would love
Myles: I am glad we get to feast on such exquisite French cuisine.
Lucy: I seem to recall super-agent Myles Leland III giving away an
Wes: Bobby, what is Lucy talking about? Dream date with Myles? If anyone wanted to go on a dream date with eligible FBI men I figured it would be you or Jack as their first choice. (more laughing)
Lucy: Of course, that shiner on Bobby tonight might scare the ladies away. How did you get the black eye anyway? (laughs)
Bobby: It’s a long story. Let’s just say I’m glad this mission is over with. (smiles)
Myles: It seems that Bobby wasn’t paying attention when Dragon Lady punched him in the eye. Black/blue/purple is a really good color on you, koala boy. (laughs)
Dimitrius: We shouldn’t tease Bobby, it could have happened to anyone one of us. (smile)
He and Tara exchange looks and smiles at each other. Only Sue and Lucy know what
Patrick O’Reilly: The ambiance is great. You all did a fantastic job. Patrick thinking about his late wife, wishing she was here to share it with him.
Wes: I’m glad I finally get to have a decent meal for a change. For the past 10 months I’ve been living on tuna sandwiches and dill pickles. (More laughter)
Bobby: Who are you kidding? You love the undercover field ops as much as we do.
Wes: That’s true. The day I’m not in the field ops working my tail off, is the day I retire. And I hope that day never comes.
Jack: From this line of work, you never know what can happen on any given day. (smiles)
Bobby: Never a dull moment when we play cloak and dagger with Brothers of Shadows boys and girls. (laughs)
Patrick O’Reilly: I would like to make a toast. Everyone raises their glasses and he says: here’s to new friends. Thank goodness, everything turned it well. Everyone cheers and clink glasses. Danny holds up his glass of milk to join in the fun.
Hannah: I’m grateful that all of you are here with us to celebrate Danny’s homecoming. Thank you very much. And now I don’t have to worry about Eduardo anymore. I can finally start a new life.
Danny: I am going to eat all the dessert tonight.
Bobby: Hey, what about me, don’t you want to share your dessert with me? (laughter)
The waiter comes by and everyone orders their food. The food arrives; everyone eats while making small talk. They all declare it was the best food they have ever tasted. Now the waiter brings the dessert cart to the table. Everyone chooses a dessert and before you know it dessert is all gone. It has been a great evening all around. After dinner, everyone goes back to Victoria Palace Hotel to get some shuteye. It is been a very long tiring 2 days for the team.
Jack: Now, I can finally get some much needed sleep. I think I could sleep for a week and not wake up. (Laughs) But first, I want to call Jessica to tell her the good news.
Sue: Good idea. I’m going to talk to Hannah for a little while before heading to bed. I’ll see you in the morning. Night, Jack.
Jack: Okay. Night, Sue. Maybe we can do some sightseeing tomorrow. See you in the morning.
Bobby: Speaking of which, we haven’t decided what we are going to do tomorrow? By the way, Patrick how long we are staying in
Dimitrius: What Bobby is trying to say is; do we get time to chill out before we get back to work at the bureau again?
Patrick O’Reilly: You all deserve a mini-vacation, but I can only give you 3 days max before I’m due back in the
Lucy: Thanks, Patrick. We know what we want to do tomorrow.
Myles: Dare I ask?
Hannah: I know some great boutiques, if you don’t mind me tagging along. I would love to go shopping with you.
Danny: I don’t want to go shopping tomorrow, mommy. I want to hang out with the boys.
Hannah: Oh sweetie, you can’t do that. The grown-ups want to do other things. So you and I will spend the day shopping with Lucy, Tara, and Sue.
Bobby: Actually, Hannah if it’s okay with you; Danny can come with us and I’ll even teach him how to play football.
Danny: Yeah, mommy. That is really cool. I want to go with Bobby. Please. You know how to play soccer.
Jack: Bobby is talking about American football, we can all teach you how to throw a ball and have a fun day.
Lucy: In other words, boys will be boys. And girls will be girls, shop until we drop. (Laughs)
Hannah: Danny, it is way past your bedtime. Say goodnight to everyone. And I will let you spend the day with your new friends tomorrow.
Everyone says goodnight and Hannah tucks Danny into bed. She can’t help but watch him sleep and make sure he is still there. She whispers; “Thank you God for bringing my little boy home”. Everyone else heads to bed.
Hannah and Sue are in the living area talking
Hannah: Thanks for letting Levi sleep with Danny. He really likes Levi a lot. I think I’m going to have to buy him a dog after you leave.
Sue: No problem. Levi is great with kids and grown-ups too. So tell me about Brendan Miller?
Hannah: Do you really want to know? You must be tired and I don’t want to bore you.
Sue: Now that the case is over, I would like to hear your story. What happened with Brendan?
Hannah: To tell you the truth, I’m not sure exactly. We met and fell in love, he was older than me a few years, but age was never an issue for us. We spend 6 blissful months together, so in love, I knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life with him. But maybe he just didn’t feel the same way about me. I never got a phone call, Dear Jane letter, postcard, nothing. I haven’t seen him in 10 years. There could never be anyone else in my heart but Brendan. Danny made me want to live and he made me whole again. Whatever happens in future, Danny and I are a package deal. Someday I will open my heart up to a man and fall in love again. And that is my sad love story. Anyway, tell me about you and Jack?
Sue: What do you mean, me and Jack? We aren’t together. We just work well together. We are really good friends and partners. Jack believed in me when no one at the FBI would.
Hannah: Yeah right. You can’t fool me. I see the way you two look at each other. When you think no one else is paying attention to you both. I think you two make a wonderful couple. So what’s stopping you two from dating each other?
Sue: It’s not that simple. Besides I don’t even know how Jack feels about me. And it would just complicate things at the bureau. I don’t want that to happen and neither does Jack.
Hannah: Take my advice. Don’t wait 10 years to find the love of your life, when he has already walked in the door to your heart. I see it whenever you look at Jack. Just tell him how you feel about him. Maybe he will surprise you and you don’t have to wonder anymore about his true feelings. Unlike me, I’m never going to get over Brendan Miller.
Sue: I’m sorry. I wish there was something I could do to make you feel better.
Hannah: Thanks, shopping tomorrow with just us girls would help a lot. I love shopping and miss the girl talk I used to have before Amber’s past became my life. Now that is all behind me.
Sue: Tomorrow, You, Lucy, me, and Tara are going to shop until we drop. They both laugh and say goodnight to each other.
Jack is on the video call with Jessica
Jack: Hi, Jessica. I hope I didn’t wake you up.
Jessica: No, I couldn’t sleep anyhow. Do you have good news to share?
Jack: Yes, we did it! Thanks to you, we got
Jessica: Thank you for saying that. I’m so glad everything turned out alright. And everyone is safe. That makes me feel so good.
Jack: You get some much deserved sleep now. You and I both need it. But I wanted to tell you the good news first. And if you still want to have lunch with me, we can do that when I get back to D.C.
Jessica: When are you flying back?
Jack: In 3 days. We are staying in
Jessica: Yes, I would love to have lunch with you.
Jack: Good. I’ll call you and set up the plans when I get back to D.C. I better let you go now. Goodnight, Jessica. Sleep well. I’m so proud of you. Bye.
Jessica: Thanks, Jack. You’re the best. Goodnight. Talk to you soon. Jessica thinking: I’m looking forward to our lunch date. Bye.
