Chapter 1:Haunted By The Past

It has been 10 years since Hannah and Danny Hampton last saw Eduardo Sanchez. But she still wakes up with nightmares that just won't go away. “The coast is clear at 3am, they leave with Alex bundled up in his car seat but Amber is terrified. They get to the rendezvous point where they meet Linda’s friends who will help them escape. Suddenly the car explodes on impact. There is black smoke all around. Somewhere there is a baby crying out for his mommy. Then the woman dressed in all black disappears with a baby into the night”.

In Middleburg, VA- Jessica Mancelli wakes up because she had that dream again. That same dream has been haunting her for days now. Jessica is used to not sleeping since she was five so she got up and went to drink a glass of milk. Jessica tries to block out these visions that just won’t go away.

She started having visions that always seem to come true in the daylight hours. She prays she is wrong about her foretelling this time.  Jessica remembers her mom and the day her mom had a seizure. Cindy told her daughter, Jessica to go with her father to the hardware store. It was April 25, 1981.

She didn't want to leave her mom, because she knew in her heart something bad was going to happen. At the hardware store, Jessica had a vision of her mom having the seizure. She told her father we need to go home now, but he told her: “he will go home when he is good and ready”. Half an hour later they arrived home and Jessica’s mom was on the floor. Her Jessica's mom died that morning while she was with her father. Will Mancelli blamed his daughter, and when he drinks, sometimes he gets abusive. He is an alcoholic who can’t control his booze.  He lost the love of his life and didn't want to raise a kid, let alone an eccentric daughter like Jessica alone. When she was 8 years old, her dad shot himself in the living room.

From then on, Jessica bounced around from foster home to foster home until she was 14 years old.  Jessica Mancelli moved in with the Baileys, her adoptive parents until she was 18 and out on her own. The Baileys live right across the street from the Hudson family. Meg Hudson met Jessica Mancelli and they hit it off really well. They became best friends and Meg introduced Jessica to her big brother, Jack Hudson.

Jessica had a schoolgirl crush on Meg's big brother but thank goodness he never discovered her secret. It took a long time for Jessica to trust Meg, to trust people in general. Her dad, Will Mancelli did a number on her when she was a small, frightened little 5 year old kid who lost her mother.  Jessica is glad she told Meg her life story. Meg is a good friend, she doesn't care that Jessica has these prophecy. Even though, at school many kids were cruel to Jessica and called her names, Meg stuck by her. And Jack Hudson took it upon himself to look after Jessica too.
